Below are practical communication activity ideas to support your child's development throughout the day. They are split into pathways to help you to find the right level for your child. Please see pathway information under the advice tab. There is no need to focus on fitting in a 'communication time', fit communication into what you are already doing. At Drumbeat school we use a total communication approach, which means we value all forms of communication e.g. talking, signing, gesture, symbols, photos and objects. Lots of the ideas below can be completed with any method of communication. If you would like some symbols sent home to support any of these activities please contact the school.
